If you have checked out lots of websites, you've probably come across some error message from time to time. An error could occur if the web server can't process a request (Error 400), if you need to log in to see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you are not allowed to access some webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file which isn't on the web server (Error 404). Encountering this kind of messages can often be irritating as the pages have nothing in common with the actual website. That’s why some web hosting companies permit you to set your own error pages that will match the layout of your own website and which can have any content that you want - info why the error has appeared, a suggestion how to handle it or even some funny comment. Such a function shall help you keep the visitor on the site no matter the error and the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting
You can set up custom made error pages for any of your domains or subdomains. The feature is supported by all shared hosting plans which we provide, so after you log in to your Hepsia CP and visit the Hosted Domains section, you can click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up that will appear, you may select the kind of error page which should appear - a default one from our system, a typical Apache web server page or a personalized one. For the latter alternative, you have to assign the URL to the page, so if you use custom made pages, you need to upload the files inside your hosting account first. Another way is to use an .htaccess file placed in the domain or subdomain folder with a line for each and every error type. The precise syntax can be seen in our Knowledge Base, to help you use this feature even if you don't have any previous experience.
